Bridal Wardrobe - BIG REVEALED!!

One of the most joyous thing about being a bride is that I get to buy and wear a lot of pretty 'bling bling' stuff!

Here's a Big Reveal of my bridal wardrobe:

Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting
My wedding gown!
Halter neck gown with with a sheer material covering the back till the waistline and cuts into the front. Sexy without over-exposure!

White wedding shoes to go along with the wedding gown.
Simply love the lacy thingy on the shoes. The original shoes do not come with the diamond-like stubs. Since it's my wedding, wanted to add more glam to the shoes, so I bought the string of diamond-like stubs and sew onto the shoes.

One of my evening gown. Cheongsam-like, slim fit cutting with cross-back to the waist.

Another evening gown. Single flowery lacy strap. Slightly flare skirt.

Another pair of shoes to match the evening gowns.

Teadress, which I am suppose to wear after tea ceremony at groom side.
Tailored made by my auntie and mom, with lots of love, priceless!

Last but not least, something that I made for my female helpers/jie mei(s).
A beautiful wristlet for them to wear on my wedding day. And the best part they is that they get to keep them after the event.

Presentation of Betrothal Gifts

Last Saturday, 25 Nov is the day where my hubby come over to present the betrothal gifts, including 聘金,Dragon and Phoenix Candles, bridal cakes, 四点金 (A set of 4 pieces of gold jewellery). By right, there should be more items, but all simplified to an ang bao as agreed by our parents.

A procedure greatly emphasized by many Chinese familiy, including mine, the groom's family’s gifts acknowledged the parents’ efforts in raising the girl, and by accepting the gifts, the girl’s family pledged her to the boy’s family. So from now on, I have to address my in-laws as Father & Mother as well.. :)

My bridal room is also up after my in-laws 安床(an chuan) aka prepare the wedding couple bed for marriage.

According to Chinese tradition, this has to be done by a blissfully married couple (from groom side) who are married for many years, so that the new couple will have the same blessing.
So in my case, my parents-in-laws are the one to prepare our newly purchased bed.

So proud of my new bedroom!! Isn't it beautiful?
The wall is painted with 2 tones of violet (yeah!! color of the rich!!), painted by me, my hubby and my parents. :)
The red bedcover, cushions and curtains match so perfectly!
And of cos, not to miss are the bedside lamps!
We have decided to buy the contemporary lamps rather than the ones that look like tradition oil lamps.

Aiya.. the sad thing is that I can sleep on my bed until my wedding day. Another 7 days to go...

Food Tasting!! Yummy!!

Today (or rather yesterday since it's already past midnight), we went for food tasting at Holiday Inn Park View, my wedding banquet venue.

On the whole, it's quite an enjoyable dinner.
We had 9 dishes in total:

1. Cold Dish Combination
Presentation was good... Taste ok...

2. Shark’s Fin Soup with Crabmeat and Fish Maw
A bit on the salty side, already asked the Chef to tone it down.
Smooth starchy soup base with visible shark fins pieces and very big chunks of crabmeat.
I like it. :) Hopefully the portion of sharks' fins and crabmeat on actual day is equivalent to today's portion.

3. Steamed Chicken with Chinese Herbs
The worst dish that we tasted tonight. Practically, nobody likes this dish.
We already ask for a change to some Canto Crispy Chicken thingy..
It will definitely taste better.

4. Yam Basket with Chicken, Cashew Nuts and Mixed Vegetables
Common dish.. Not much 'wow' factor. Unadventurous people will like it.

5. Braised Sliced Abalone and Mushroom with Lettuce
Another common dish. Our parents love it.

6. Sautéed Prawn with Spicy Sauce
Crunchy prawns. Well accepted by everyone present at the food tasting.
1 good thing: it is already shelled!! So no worry about dirty hands on that day!

7. Steamed Garoupa with Superior Soya Sauce
I am not a fish lover. But according to my Dad, a self proclaimed fish specialist (he has been selling fish for many years), it's good!

8. Braised Ee Fu Noodles with Crabmeat and Chives
Already very full at this point, so can't really tell whether it's nice.
Again, I see big chunks of crabmeat. :)

9. Chilled Mango Pudding with Fruit Cocktail
I love this dessert!! Hehe.. I think it's a bias comment since I love mango!!
Anyway, the Mango Pudding actually tasted like mango.. so I guess that's a +++ point! :)

On the whole, we enjoy the food at Holiday Inn Park View. Just gonna manifest that the standard will increase or maintain when it is mass produced on 8 Dec!

The wedding consultant, Vasanthi, at Holiday Inn Park View is a very nice indian lady. :)
Very friendly and accomodating to our request to change the dishes. 10 points!

I also did a final selection of the wedding favors! Vasanthi brought all the samples for me to choose. And upon seeing how much my family and I love the wedding favors, she actually gave all the samples to me as gifts. Isn't she sweet?

Here's the preview of what you are likely to get on my wedding banquet:

I can choose 2 for my wedding favors... Which 1 will you get?? hehe..
